Cree Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Cree-English phone interpreter to work from home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render accurate and concise interpretations of conversations between Cree and English speakers.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and enunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during interpreting sessions.
• Concentrate and stay detached from the conversation, especially in sensitive topics.
• Adapt to LLS technology enhancements to improve service delivery.
• Ensure punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions and comply with protocol.
• Understand and respect cultural differences and sensitivities.
• Work in a diverse environment and demonstrate cultural competency.

Requirements

• Fluency in Cree and English with cultural understanding.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to handle emotionally charged and stressful calls.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the US.
• Ability to read and write the requested languages is highly preferred.
• Access to a dedicated personal device for business purposes.
• High-speed internet connection with minimum download/upload speeds and low ping/jitter values.
• Able to operate a keyboard, mouse, and company-provided software.
• Physical requirements for sitting and typing for most of the workday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to adapt to LLS technology enhancements.
• Legal authorization to work in the US.
• Experience in language-related fields preferred.
