About the Role

Bank of America's Sports Finance & Advisory team is seeking a Credit Officer I/II to support a portfolio of clients comprised of professional sports leagues, teams, stadiums, arenas, and related sports enterprises across the United States and select international markets. As a dedicated specialty team, Sports Finance & Advisory operates with an integrated coverage model, providing financing solutions and strategic advice exclusively to organizations within the sports ecosystem.

This position offers a unique opportunity to develop deep industry expertise, build relationships across the sports landscape, and work alongside experienced professionals focused on one of the most dynamic sectors in commercial banking. The Credit Officer (CO) is responsible for delivering strategic and customized debt capital solutions to sports industry clients and prospects, encompassing structuring and advising on a broad range of credit products, including revolving credit facilities, term loans, acquisition financings, and syndicated transactions.

The CO will partner closely with relationship managers, product specialists, and risk partners to deliver comprehensive solutions that support clients' evolving financing needs. The CO maintains primary responsibility for managing the Bank's credit exposure to assigned clients, including loans, treasury, derivatives, and other capital markets products that carry credit exposure. This role reports to the Commercial Credit Manager and is part of a highly collaborative team environment. Periodic travel is expected to support client meetings, industry conferences, league events, and business development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain specialized knowledge of the sports industry, including league structures, revenue streams, ownership dynamics, venue financing, and emerging industry trends.
  • Lead client and prospect engagement related to credit and debt capital solutions, supporting business development and revenue growth.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to sports industry clients, providing strategic guidance on capital structure, liquidity management, and financing alternatives.
  • Structure and recommend tailored credit solutions aligned with client objectives and the Bank's risk framework.
  • Lead negotiations of loan terms, covenants, and documentation.
  • Own and actively manage portfolio asset quality, including risk identification, monitoring, and mitigation.
  • Collaborate closely with Relationship Managers, Treasury Solutions Officers, Investment Banking partners, and product specialists to deliver integrated solutions across the Bank's platform.
  • Act as a credit approver in partnership with Risk Management, ensuring compliance with credit policies and underwriting standards.
  • Support and mentor junior underwriting and analyst team members while contributing to a strong team-oriented culture.
  • Participate in client visits, industry conferences, league meetings, and other sports-related networking opportunities to strengthen market presence and industry knowledge.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial banking, including Middle Market, Leveraged Finance, Large Corporate Banking, Sports Finance, or related business lines.
  • Strong technical skills, including financial statement analysis, underwriting, cash flow modeling, and credit structuring.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex transactions and client relationships.
  • Interest in building specialized expertise within the sports industry and contributing to a market-leading sports banking platform.
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) preferred.

Schedule

1st shift (United States of America), 40 hours per week.
