About the role
The Credit & Collections Lead plays a critical role in protecting company cash flow while partnering across the business to enable growth. This high-visibility role involves owning key credit, billing, and collections processes and serving as a trusted advisor to Sales, Operations, and customers on complex credit matters.
Responsibilities
- Drive Credit Strategy & Risk Management
- Evaluate creditworthiness of new and existing customers to support smart business decisions
- Set and manage credit limits aligned to risk tolerance and growth goals
- Partner with Sales and leadership to navigate credit holds and optimize order flow
- Own the Collections Portfolio
- Manage a large, dynamic portfolio of accounts to ensure timely collections and healthy cash flow
- Resolve payment discrepancies, research unidentified deposits, and reconcile customer accounts
- Act as a key point of contact for escalations, balancing customer relationships with financial objectives
- Lead Process Excellence
- Oversee billing, credit memos, refunds, returns, and commission-related deductions/paybacks
- Ensure accuracy and compliance by reviewing adjustment packets and supporting SOX controls
- Continuously improve cash application policies and procedures to align with best practices
- Collaborate Across the Business
- Serve as a liaison between Finance, Sales, IT, Shipping, and Customers on credit-related matters
- Maintain accurate customer master data and resale certifications
- Monitor sales quote holds and proactively communicate risks and resolutions
Qualifications
- Proven experience in Accounts Receivable, Credit, and Collections with a strong understanding of financial processes
- Ability to analyze credit data, interpret financial reports, and make risk-based decisions
- Strong communication skills—can influence stakeholders and explain financial concepts clearly
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a drive to improve processes and results
