About the Role
The Credit Analyst II provides analytical and underwriting support for commercial banking, conducting independent analysis of the creditworthiness of customers and prospects. This role collaborates closely with the lending function to assess the risk of commercial transactions and ensure thorough documentation.
Responsibilities
- Assist with commercial credit analysis by reviewing credit reports, personal/business financial statements, tax returns, appraisals, property inspections, and environmental reports to prepare loan presentations for approval.
- Analyze financial statements to determine credit strengths and weaknesses, including debt-service ratio, current assets ratio, leverage ratios, cash flow analysis, fixed charge coverage, and acid test ratio.
- Assist with collateral analysis for accounts receivable, inventory, equipment, and real estate.
- Support credit classification analysis, including customer base profiling, delinquent accounts, aging analysis, collections, and charge-offs.
- Conduct inventory analysis, examining inventory in days, stale inventory, spoilage, depletion, and valuations.
- Perform equipment analysis, comparing market value to book value and assessing net orderly liquidation values.
- Evaluate real estate collateral, including appraisals, special-use facilities, and alternative uses.
- Contact customers or their representatives to gather additional information or clarification during the underwriting process, coordinating with bankers.
- Identify and assess business, industry, and market risks to determine trends, growth, cyclical nature, seasonality, and business stages for credit evaluation.
- Perform business sector analyses to evaluate company health based on competitors and similar businesses.
- Apply economic theories to assess a company’s growth potential.
- Order underwriting items such as audits, TLJ and UCC searches, appraisals, environmental reports, flood certifications, and property inspections from internal and external sources.
- Prepare final funding reconciliation in Vendor Services.
- Update credit files and record external vendor order costs in Vendor Services.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
- 2+ years of credit experience, ideally in a public company with at least 1,000 employees.
- 2+ years of credit analyst experience.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Self-motivated with strong time and project management skills, including attention to detail.
- Strong change management, organizational, and planning capabilities.
- Ability to identify, define, and solve problems, evaluate alternatives, set priorities, and implement solutions.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Work Environment
This role operates in a typical office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. The position requires frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination for office equipment, as well as strong oral and auditory capacity for interpersonal and automated communication.
Byline Bank supports a hybrid work environment for this role, combining remote and in-office work with occasional visits to the office based on business needs. Specific in-office days will be discussed during the interview process.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $72,000 to $89,000, plus incentive opportunities.
