About The Role

The Budget Execution Specialist will be instrumental in providing financial and budget execution support for federal facilities management programs. This role involves managing the distribution, obligation, expenditure, reconciliation, tracking, and reporting of appropriated funds in compliance with federal financial management standards. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with program managers, budget offices, acquisition teams, and financial stakeholders to facilitate the execution of annual budgets and related funding activities.

This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, supporting critical infrastructure and program operations that benefit tribal and federal communities. Remote work may be authorized, with a preference for candidates to conduct duties from Albuquerque, NM, or Reston, VA, subject to operational needs and security considerations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, or related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered
  • Minimum of five (5) years of federal budget execution, budget analysis, financial management, or accounting experience
  • Experience supporting federal appropriated funds, including obligations, expenditures, and fund tracking
  • Proficiency in preparing financial reports, analyses, spreadsheets, and executive briefings
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain federal suitability or background clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required

Responsibilities

  • Execute and monitor budget activities involving obligations, expenditures, allocations, and fund distributions
  • Maintain and update operating and spend plans, along with financial tracking reports
  • Monitor Undelivered Orders (UDO) and assist with reconciliation and closeout activities
  • Support financial management activities related to contracts, agreements, and interagency funding actions
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports for leadership review
  • Analyze budget execution data and provide strategic recommendations to management
  • Track program funding status and identify potential risks to budget execution
  • Cookordination with acquisition, budget, finance, and program offices regarding funding actions
  • Support budget formulation and execution activities throughout the fiscal year
  • Ensure compliance with federal financial management policies and procedures
