Credentialing Specialist - Physician Services - Full Time - Days
About the role
Under the direct supervision of the Medical Staff Coordinator and the indirect supervision of the Vice President of Physician Services, the Credentialing Specialist provides support for the initial appointment and reappointment credentialing and privileging activities and processes in accordance with the medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and medical staff policies so as to ensure that only qualified practitioners provide care at OakBend Medical Center.
Responsibilities
- Supports the credentialing and privileging process for medical staff appointments and reappointments.
- Ensures compliance with medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and medical staff policies.
- Provides administrative support for medical staff meetings and other credentialing activities.
- Manages and updates credentialing files and databases.
- Communicates with medical staff members to gather required documentation and information.
- Assists in the preparation of reports and presentations related to credentialing activities.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent; relevant experience in lieu of High School Diploma/GED education will be considered.
- Three (3) years of experience in the performance of responsible secretarial/stenographic and clerical work.
- Experience with computer systems, word processing, database and spreadsheet applications.
Qualifications
- Certification by the Certification Commission of National Association of Medical Staff Services as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred.
Skills
- The knowledge and skills to perform duties using word processing, database and spreadsheets in the computer.
- Well-developed oral, written, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform secretarial and clerical duties with speed and accuracy without immediate and constant supervision.
