About the Role
The Credentialing Coordinator manages credentialing and privileging processes for medical, allied health, and clinical staff. This role ensures applications, status changes, and privilege requests are processed accurately and on schedule while maintaining current practitioner records. The position also provides administrative support to medical staff committees and contributes to compliance, quality, and effective healthcare operations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate credentialing and privileging activities for medical, allied health, and clinical staff.
- Process initial and reappointment applications accurately, completely, and within established timelines.
- Manage practitioner status changes and requests for additional clinical privileges.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of privileged practitioners within credentialing databases.
- Monitor credentialing requirements and follow established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Provide administrative support for medical staff committee meetings, including preparation and maintenance of related documentation.
- Communicate with practitioners, medical staff leaders, and internal teams regarding credentialing and privileging activities.
- Support accurate documentation and timely resolution of credentialing issues.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a hospital, healthcare, or credentialing environment; relevant coursework may substitute for experience.
- Associate’s degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple credentialing processes and deadlines accurately.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with medical staff credentialing and privileging processes preferred.
- CPMSM or CPCS certification through the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) preferred upon hire.
Pay
- Salary ranges vary by location. For example, Northern California positions may range from $31.33 to $47.94 per hour, with other regional ranges applying based on work location.
