About the role

The Credential Analyst, under the general supervision of the Dean of the School of Education, is responsible for providing candidates with information and guidance about credentialing requirements and ensuring the University follows the laws, rules, and regulations of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) for the teacher credential program.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, analyzes, evaluates, and recommends applications for public school teaching credentials.
  • Serves as a resource to provide current information to students, staff, and faculty on matters regarding State credential requirements and University policies and procedures.
  • Provides academic advising to student candidates in the School of Education.
  • Oversight of the implementation of processes and procedures for recommending California teacher credentials for candidates.
  • Reports data related to credentials at a state and federal level.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of: CTC regulations, procedures, and requirements; laws, rules, and regulations related to teacher education and the granting of credentials for public school service in CA.
  • Organizes database and collects student records related to CTC accreditation requirements.
  • Oversees the School of Education’s Retention Project.
  • Oversees the Continuing Education Units (CEU) offered by the School of Education including the ongoing development of the Instant Enrollment process.
  • Oversees the scheduling of and enrollment into the School of Education’s Non-Degree courses.
  • Supports enrolled Non-Degree students.
  • Supports the School of Education adjuncts.
  • Covers office supply purchasing.
  • Creates, sends, and collects invoices to school districts; submits payments to the finance office.
  • Submits payments of stipends to mentor teachers and peer support providers.
  • Tracks teacher candidates’ observations hours and clinical practice placements.
  • Responsible for enrollment projections, course schedules, course catalog, delinquent students, and the SOE Portal.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a team.
  • Strong writing, reading, grammar and spelling skills to prepare a variety of correspondence, reports, and informational documents.
  • Skills and ability to develop creative solutions to general problems.
  • Experience in California Teacher Credentialing/Accreditation processes and systems a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, Teams, One-Drive, etc.).
  • Familiarity with LMSs such as Canvas and can integrate new programs as required.
  • Ability to communicate with students, faculty, and school & district administrators.
