MarketingContract
Location: Los Angeles, CA (preferred, hybrid/flexible for the right candidate) Type: Part-time, ongoing contract / retainer Compensation: Commensurate with experience About The Role We're looking for a Creative Social Producer to work directly with high-profile talent (musicians, primarily professional athletes, etc.) to build and execute their social media content strategy. This is a creative leadership role, not an execution-only seat: you're the person coming up with the ideas, pitching them to talent, taking (and using) feedback, and then owning execution at a high level, either solo or by directing a team of filmers and editors. We're not looking for someone whose primary skill is being behind the camera or in the edit bay full-time. We're looking for someone who has held a higher-level creative role; someone who thinks in concepts, formats, and strategy first, and who can direct others to execute. That said, the ability to shoot and edit yourself when needed (small shoots, quick turnarounds, filling a gap) is a real asset, and you should be comfortable giving sharp, platform-specific notes on a cut, telling an editor exactly what needs to change for a piece to work on TikTok vs. YouTube vs. Reels, for example. You'll wear a lot of hats (ideator, creative director, producer, platform strategist) and the right person is someone who's genuinely energized by that range rather than looking for a single-lane role. What You'll Do Concept development & pitching: Come up with video concepts and content series, and pitch them directly to talent — then take their feedback and refine ideas in real time Creative direction: Direct filmers and editors on shoots and edits, giving clear creative briefs and sharp notes on cuts — including platform-specific notes (what needs to change for a piece to land on TikTok vs. YouTube vs. Reels) Hands-on execution (as needed): Shoot and/or edit content yourself when it makes sense. Quick turnarounds, small setups, or when no crew is available Content calendar: Build and maintain content calendars across talent, balancing consistency with real-life schedules (travel, games, training, etc.) Distribution: Oversee publishing of long-form content (YouTube) and short-form clips (Reels, TikTok, Shorts) across platforms Platform strategy: Understand and apply the specific content \"rules\" and best practices for each platform. Pacing, aspect ratio, hook structure, caption style, posting cadence, algorithm quirks, and shape concepts around them from the start Titles & thumbnails: Write titles and direct thumbnails that drive clicks, informed by what's actually working in the space Performance tracking: Monitor what's working across channels and feed learnings back into future content decisions Deep internet knowledge: Obsessed with content and always has a finger on the pulse of virality What We're Looking For Proven experience creating content for social platforms and growing channels — you can point to real numbers/results you were creatively responsible for Strong track record specifically with titles, thumbnails, and hooks — you understand what makes someone stop scrolling or click Experience directing freelance filmers and/or editors — briefing shoots, giving clear creative notes, and pushing cuts toward a platform-specific outcome Comfort pitching ideas directly to talent and adjusting on the fly based on their feedback Deep, current knowledge of platform-specific best practices (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Shorts/Reels), understanding why certain formats work on certain platforms Experience with sports or athlete content is a strong plus, but not required Highly organized — able to run multiple content calendars and production pipelines at once without things falling through the cracks Based in or around Los Angeles preferred, for occasional in-person shoots/meetings Interested candidates should submit a portfolio (website, Instagram, etc.) and 3 specific pieces of relevant content that they had a big role in creating.
