Creative Director-Experience Life
About the role
The Creative Director creates top-quality layouts and designs for the pages of Experience Life, the EL website, and collateral elements. They lead the art department, fostering career growth and passion-driven roles for team members. Responsibilities include creating engaging covers and pages, art directing photo shoots, coordinating cover execution (design and retouching), and managing the creative budget for cost efficiency. The role also involves establishing brand guidelines and standards across print, digital, social media, circulation, direct mail, and advertising.
Responsibilities
- Creates and oversees all design work for EL, including print, digital, social media, circulation, and advertising
- Directs art illustration, photography, and stock/commissioned work
- Executes retouching for all images across all EL platforms
- Manages the art team, assigning work and establishing priorities
- Executes multiple rounds of design reviews and changes
- Takes charge of photography and hand lettering execution when needed
- Assists with Life Time Corporate projects to guide EL’s brand identity
- Leads the creative department in team planning meetings and acts as backup to the Editor in Chief for leadership needs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field
- 10+ years of industry experience
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite CS6, InDesign, and Photoshop on Mac/OSX
- Strong knowledge of design principles and production execution
- Experience with high-level design and art direction
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with photography, lighting, or creative direction
- Experience with retouching
Pay
This is a salaried position with a range of $105,000 to $145,000, based on experience and qualifications. The role is also eligible for performance-based bonuses.
