Crating - 1st Shift Job

About the role

This position is responsible for safely producing crates for finished solid and veneered wood products using advanced machinery, hand tools, and sanding equipment. Production needs include customer orders, inventory, product samples, and product development prototypes.

Shift: 1st Shift - Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., with possible overtime on Friday/Saturday.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation of machinery, ensuring safe work practices and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Produce crates with high attention to detail, accuracy, and quality of work.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of self and all associates within the facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on production needs.

Requirements

• Dependable, punctual, and good attendance.
• Ability to interact well with others while working safely and producing high-quality material.
• Willingness to work overtime, averaging 40-50 hours per week.
• Ability to read Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Minimum of GED or High School diploma.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of wood products and finishing (desired).
• Ability to read a tape measure (desired).
• 1-3 years of past manufacturing experience (desired).

Physical Demands

The physical requirements for this role include:

• Regularly talking or hearing.
• Frequently standing, walking, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms.
• Occasionally sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Frequently lifting and moving up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This role operates in a manufacturing setting with the following characteristics:

• Occasional exposure to hot/cold temperatures, uneven walking surfaces, cords, tools, and other obstacles.
• Intermittent loud noises and dusty or dirty conditions.
• Required PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and other department-specific PPE.
• Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
