Operate cranes at all boom lengths, angles and positions during continual location changes. Work with various types and sizes of diesel engines, electric and hydraulic controls.
Responsibilities
- Consider at all times the safest movement of the load, clearances along the route, position changes needed to complete the move, and the effects of these changes on the crane's lifting capacities.
- Ensure safety of the crane, the load, and personnel is maintained at all times.
- Understand the principles of cable drums and brake systems, function of outriggers on mobile cranes, and proper mooring and anchoring for floating cranes.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- Must successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required; subject to random testing thereafter.
- Must wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- May require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites; must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
- Subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
- Must be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding.
