About the role

The Craft Recruiter is responsible for developing and executing strategies to attract top-tier construction craft talent, including both union and non-union professionals, across the Veit Enterprise. This role manages full-cycle recruitment activities, engages in trade union, school, and community events, supports diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and assists with HR policies and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete recruitment process for construction craft roles, including drafting job ads, reviewing resumes, conducting phone interviews, and issuing employment offers via the applicant tracking system.
  • Cultivate relationships with field leaders and department managers to understand hiring needs and establish a robust talent network.
  • Stay active with job boards, trade partners, industry associations, and social networks to find talent and maintain a pipeline.
  • Communicate job requirements, expectations, and company culture to candidates, ensuring clarity and understanding.
  • Conduct or acquire background checks, reference checks, and employment eligibility verifications.
  • Attend high school and trade union career fairs and other local networking opportunities to build a strong pipeline of qualified candidates.
  • Support partnerships with schools and institutions to develop a talent pool.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date recruitment records and details in the ATS system in accordance with all federal and state regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in talent management and employment law.
  • Participate in creating efficiencies and improving internal processes.
  • Participate in HR projects and audits as needed.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Three years of full-cycle recruitment experience, including screening, prospecting, qualifying, interviewing, and managing candidates throughout the interview process.
  • Construction industry field experience may be considered in lieu of recruitment experience.
  • Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems, Workday preferred.
  • Union partnership and recruiting experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations, or ability to learn.
  • Demonstrated time-management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines while working under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with ability to build trust and credibility.
  • Ability to maintain integrity, positivity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Strong ability to sell Veit as an employer of choice.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Able to work 8-hour workdays, Monday through Friday with flexibility to attend occasional weekend events.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Regular local travel required, plus overnight stays for out-of-town interviews, career fairs, and industry association meetings/conferences (50%+).

Most often an office environment, however occasional jobsite travel is required. Employee frequently works alone and with others. The employee occasionally may encounter high noise levels when visiting jobsites on occasion, but hearing protection is provided/required. Most often in a typical office environment.
