About the role
The Manager, Beverage Development is responsible for overseeing the beverage development department. This role will execute and develop beverage creations, deliver comprehensive trainings, and serve as the cocktail and spirits expert for internal and external stakeholders. The Beverage Development Manager partners with suppliers and sales teams to create marketing strategies to meet supplier goals.
Responsibilities
- Partner with sales team to develop and execute comprehensive beverage programs for local and national accounts (fine dining, regional chains, hotels, clubs, and bars).
- Manage departmental processes and create systems to maximize efficiency and impact.
- Provide comprehensive trainings on new brands, cocktails, and basic skills to accounts.
- Serve as expert consultant on innovation brand assessment for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain and enhance account relations.
- Partner with suppliers in developing plans to meet marketing strategies and supplier goals.
- Work alongside supplier beverage experts and/or ambassadors to deliver full-service to accounts and internal teams.
- Identify potential new suppliers and assess opportunities.
- Implement monthly reporting and review meetings with managers to assess progress and identify opportunities.
- Establish projects and work with purchasing to adjust projections and/or orders based on shifts in the market such as new accounts, promotions, or impact of other brands.
- Provide weekly recaps to internal stakeholders identifying trends, reporting past and upcoming developments, and communicating calls-to-action to drive market impact.
- Develop, manage, and maintain spirits and cocktail database for internal and external stakeholders.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent training and work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in bartending/management in high-end cocktail/bar establishment or experience in specific commodity; supplier experience a plus.
- Written and verbal communication skills to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Analytical skills and proficiency in PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs including presentation software.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail, and meet deadlines.
- Sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume, team environment.
- Ability to execute large-scale cocktail-driven events, managing self and others.
- Empathy and accountability: genuine care for customers and sales teams while achieving goals.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and extract necessary information to achieve goals.
- Ability to develop and deliver cocktails with little to no notice.
