About the role

A well-established mortgage industry organization is seeking a CPA to join their finance/accounting team. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review complex tax returns and provide practical, proactive tax planning services.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and federal regulations.
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including monthly financial reporting, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits and reviews.
  • Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
  • Reconcile bank statements and calculate tax payments and returns.
  • Manage and track the performance of invested assets in alignment with the company’s policies and investment strategy.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements.
  • Work on cleanup projects to ensure the company’s financials are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and manage auditing projects.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.

Requirements

  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of tax, accounting, and cleanup.
  • Experience with computerized ledger systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with Excel.
  • Experience in the Mortgage industry will be an added advantage.

Pay

$95,000 - $125,000 per year
