About the role
The University of Georgia is seeking a skilled Covid-19 Diagnostic Technician. This position is based in the VetMed-Athens Diagnostic Lab within the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Responsibilities
- Perform Molecular Diagnostic test procedures for the diagnosis of animal and human diseases under BSL2, enhanced BSL2 and BSL3 conditions.
- General lab maintenance. Maintain a clean organized environment with adequate inventory at all times.
Requirements
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

- Lift 40 pounds unassisted.
- Stand, walk or sit for long periods of time.

- Position Summary: This technician is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing the performance of all Molecular Diagnostic test procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of bacterial, viral and fungal diseases of animals.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Experience in a microbiology, medical technology, veterinary diagnostic, commercial or public health laboratory.
