About the role
The Court Specialist III will primarily perform specialized administrative duties and process specific and complex legal documents in support of assigned court functions.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to attorneys, the public, governmental agencies and others in the filing of court documents and other court related business.
- Responds to inquiries from the public regarding case status, case filings and court procedures.
- Collects fees and reviews and accepts legal documents submitted by the public in accordance with court procedures and prescribed time frames.
- Enters data from court documents into case management; responds to court orders and other relevant documents regarding the court system; files court records in accordance with court procedures.
- Affixes records maintenance and retrieval; addresses customer questions, issues, and complaints; controls the flow of confidential and public information; responds to questions via telephone inquires.
- Provides general clerical assistance to the Clerk of Court and/or Chief Deputy Clerk, when needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- The Court Specialist III should possess, at a minimum, a High School Diploma or GED; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Knowledge of the laws and procedures governing the functions of the Civil and Magistrate Court.
- Requires the ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others regarding procedures and standards to specific situations.
- Demonstrated ability to show good judgement, consistency, timeliness and respect in decision making.
- Ability to work effectively with members of all levels within the organization and the public.
- Knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Demonstrated acceptable proficiency in the court management software used in the Civil & Magistrate Court.
- General and basic skills in mathematics and simple accounting or bookkeeping.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
