About the role

The Superior Court of Los Angeles County is the largest unified trial court in the United States. The Court’s 582 judicial officers and its dedicated workforce of over 4,600 full-time employees serve across 36 facilities, aiming to provide equal access to justice to all of Los Angeles County. The Court fosters a collaborative environment where team members contribute their professional skills and experiences to ensure the efficient and fair administration of justice.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process critical legal documents
  • Prepare and manage court calendars
  • Issue writs and warrants
  • Support courtroom operations during hearings and trials
  • Coordinate jury services
  • Handle specialized filings
  • Ensure compliance with legal procedures

Requirements

  • Option I: High school diploma/GED equivalent + 3 years working in a business environment, including general administrative, clerical, and/or retail experience, providing customer service, cash handling, and utilizing basic computer skills + US citizenship
  • Option II: Associate's degree or equivalent units + 1 year of general administrative, clerical, and/or retail experience providing customer service, cash handling, and utilizing basic computer skills + US citizenship

Qualifications

  • Credit for experience is based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a pro rate basis (e.g., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience).
  • Overtime does not count toward additional credit.

Telework Opportunities

This position may be eligible for partial telework following an initial training period contingent upon the Court's operation unit.

What to Expect After Applying

  • Evaluation: Qualifying evaluation of education, training, and experience based on submitted application and supplemental questionnaire.
  • Assessment: Online examination weighted 100% covering customer service, proofreading, and reading comprehension.
  • Eligibility: Applicants who successfully pass each and all recruitment steps will be placed on an eligible list which remains active for approximately six (6) months and may be invited to participate in a selection interview.
