Location: Wyandotte County, 29th Judicial District, Kansas City, Kansas

About the role

The duties of this position include the supervision and monitoring of children and families under the jurisdiction of the District Court, Child in Need of Care Department. This position will also provide support to the Juvenile Offender Unit if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a Child in Need of Care caseload or other specific caseload as directed by the Department’s CSOIII
  • Compile and maintain documentation on all contacts, utilizing required court case management systems
  • Provide the court with professional assessments to assist in making appropriate findings and orders
  • Appear in court, conduct home studies, prepare court reports, perform home visits, child investigations, and family assessments
  • Correspond with other agencies and the public
  • Comply with state mandates as well as local policies and procedures
  • Perform additional duties as required by the CSOIII, Chief CSO, or the Court

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in corrections, criminology, counseling, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field
  • Subject to a name-based criminal history background check
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to legal means of transportation
  • Must pass a fingerprint-based background check within the first 30 days of employment if hired

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the child welfare and/or juvenile justice fields
  • Experience in caseload management
  • Ability to multitask and demonstrate excellent time management skills
  • Must complete YLS certification within 12 months of employment and maintain certification while employed
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient use of current computer programs and technology
  • Professional, courteous, and cooperative demeanor

Pay

Salary: $28.78 hourly
