Court Services Deputy (CERTIFIED)

The court deputy will be responsible for a variety of duties including, but not limited to, perform law enforcement duties, maintaining order in the courtroom, escorting inmates to and from the correctional facility, serving the requests of the judge, searching inmates and/or visitors, conduct pre-courtroom preparation, monitor all activities within the courtroom, direct and supervise the jury pool, patrol the courthouse holding facility, check alarms, inspect transport vehicles, review docket and inmate records, oversee security area checkpoints and perform varied law enforcement duties when necessary.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be Florida Law Enforcement Certified or currently attending a Florida Law Enforcement Academy.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Applicants who do not possess an Associate's Degree or equivalent must successfully complete the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test and achieve a score of 267 or higher in Verbal Skills and 241 or higher in Quantitative Skills (math).

  • Annual Work Hours: 2080
  • Long Term Salary Cap: $88,795.20
  • The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office requires all employees to have either an associates degree, 60 equivalent hours from an accredited college or university or the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test. The Wonderlic Basic Skills Test measures verbal and quantitative skills. Sworn Law Enforcement and Corrections Deputies must achieve a minimum passing score of Verbal - 267 and Quantitative - 241. Civilians must achieve a minimum passing score of Verbal - 248 and Quantitative - 241.
  • Wonderlic Basic Skills Test administered by Suncoast Technical College, fee $40, Hours of Operations: Monday through Thursday 7:30am to 3:00pm, Friday 7:30am to 2:00pm. TESTING IS SCHEDULED BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
