About the role

This is a working/journey position that works under general supervision. Work assignments may be in one or more case-type areas, including but not limited to front counter, distribution, child support, fines, restitution, and jury.

Responsibilities

  • Applies judgment to the diversified subject matter, selecting appropriate guidelines and applying general policies and procedures.
  • Processes and handles legal clerical duties for the Clerk of Superior Court.
  • Works in one or more case-type areas, including but not limited to front counter, distribution, child support, fines, restitution, and jury.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of general office, legal clerical, or accounting-related experience
  • Type 40 words per minute

Qualifications

  • Experience typing routine materials, such as reports, forms, correspondence, memoranda
  • Experience transcribing correspondence, reports or memoranda, from notes and/or dictation
  • Experience proofreading and/or editing documents for grammar, punctuation, spelling or format
  • Experience composing, drafting and finalizing correspondence, memoranda or other documents
  • Experience typing statistical data or technical reports
  • Experience formatting and producing charts, graphs, or tables on a computer using various software
  • Experience sorting, collating and preparing documents for data entry
  • Experience entering data in computers
  • Experience creating new files in systems
  • Experience proofreading data to verify its accuracy
  • Experience updating and correcting information in an automated system
  • Experience conducting records searches in databases
  • Experience scheduling and calendaring meetings, appointments, interviews, or conferences
  • Experience filing and retrieving documents in established filing systems
  • Experience preparing and updating logs, file folders, and other documents
  • Experience gathering information, preparing and processing documents
  • Experience establishing and maintaining complex filing systems
  • Experience compiling statistical data and preparing reports
  • Experience greeting and directing the public (in person)
  • Experience answering telephones and relaying messages
  • Experience answering questions from the public by phone or in person
  • Experience resolving minor problems in person, by phone or correspondence
  • Experience conducting client or customer interviews to gather information
  • Experience receiving over the counter payments from the public and issuing receipts
  • Experience verifying invoices and payments
  • Experience calculating fees, receiving payments and balancing cash
  • Experience establishing, posting, and maintaining bookkeeping systems/ledgers
  • Experience creating brochures, newsletters or other promotional materials
