About the role

The essential function of the position is to assist judges with the timely disposition of cases through case management, case monitoring, and program implementation. The position is responsible for providing information to litigants and trial court staff; reviewing filings; managing and preparing cases for court hearings; briefing judges; attending hearings (if applicable) and other trial court proceedings; maintaining record/filing system; scheduling hearings; and performing related clerical support functions. The position is responsible for collecting and reporting on case/program data and maintaining databases as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist judges with the timely disposition of cases through case management, case monitoring, and program implementation.
  • Provide information to litigants and trial court staff.
  • Review filings.
  • Manage and prepare cases for court hearings.
  • Brief judges.
  • Attend hearings (if applicable) and other trial court proceedings.
  • Maintain record/filing system.
  • Schedule hearings.
  • Perform related clerical support functions.
  • Collect and report on case/program data.
  • Maintain databases as needed.

Requirements

  • Education - Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field.
  • Experience - Three years of professional, administrative, analytical related work experience. A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school may substitute for two years of the recommended experience. Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience level on a year-for-year basis.
  • Valid Florida State Driver’s License required.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.

  • $48,040.08 annually
