Overview
NeproPsychiatric Hospitals is seeking a Court Liaison at their Medical Behavioral Hospital of Clear Lake. This position is critical in ensuring that patients receive the necessary court-ordered care and support.
Responsibilities
- Provide coordination of clinically indicated services to individuals and the courts, for persons receiving court orders.
- Draft and submit petitions, notices, affidavits/certificates of service and denial rights motions with the court on behalf of the patient and the facility.
- Compile, maintain and track the mental health court appearances and evaluation appointments for all patients admitted to the facility on an involuntary basis.
- Assemble chart materials for mental health court evaluations and hearings to provide evidence for each patient’s hold.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of relevant activities.
- Communicate effectively with court clerks, court-appointed doctors, public defenders and various court personnel in order to coordinate and deliver correct patient information for hearings and evaluations.
- Communicate patient court progression with appropriate departments at the facility.
- Assist in providing a safe, secure and comfortable environment for patients, significant others and staff.
- Work in assisting other county courts in Texas in understanding warrant process to our facility.
- Act as educator for community resources in need of direction/instructions on the process of filing EDO's to admit involuntary patients to our facility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, or Psychology field required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a related role, preferably within a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Experience with legal or court liaison responsibilities is highly preferred.
- Typing/word processing skills.
- Spreadsheet and PowerPoint skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated management and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license verified upon hire.
- Reliable transportation required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Handle with Care (HWC) certifications obtained during orientation.
