LEVEL 1 // FOUNDATION COURSES: Seven modules covering the fundamentals of creative IP in the AI era. Complete all seven to qualify for Level 1 certification.

• MOD_01 (4 min) Rights Foundations

  Copyright, moral rights, neighbouring rights, and database rights. What subsists, when it attaches, and why it matters in AI pipelines.

• MOD_02 (2 min) Record Setup — the Core Data Record

  The CDR is the atomic unit of the CIP framework. How to create one, what fields it contains, and what it does.

• MOD_03 (1 min) Consent Frameworks

  What consent means in the context of AI training, how the CIP consent taxonomy works, and when consent is required.

• MOD_04 (2 min) Identity & Likeness (NILP)

  Name, image, likeness, and persona rights. The fastest-moving area of AI law. What's protected, what isn't, and what's changing.

• MOD_05 (1 min) Synthetic & AI-Generated Content

  When AI creates something, who owns it? Mixed-rights works, prompt authorship, and the CIP classification system.

• MOD_06 (2 min) Royalty Awareness

  How money flows from AI use of creative work. Training Data Dividends, collecting societies, and the emerging licence economy.

• MOD_07 (2 min) Platform Compliance

  What platforms must do under the EU AI Act, the UK Data Act, and the CIP Standard. Audit areas, certification, and enforcement.

• MOD_08 (4 min) Sports NIL/NILP Rights

  The sport-vertical expansion of the CIP framework covering athletes, intermediaries, institutions, and AI vendors. Jurisdictional regimes, clearinghouse operations, safeguarding overlays, and worked examples.

• MOD_09 (2 min) Biometric Rights

  What constitutes biometric data in law across UK, EU, and US jurisdictions. Illinois BIPA, EU AI Act biometric provisions, voice as biometric identifier, and creator rights against biometric AI training.

• MOD_10 (4 min) TDM and Training Data Law

  Full analysis of TDM exceptions and opt-out mechanisms across UK, EU, and US jurisdictions. Enforcement pathways, jurisdiction selection in contracts, and coordination with collecting societies.

Certification Levels

• Level 1: Foundation

  Free and open access. Complete 7 modules, pass the quiz (75% pass mark), and earn a Certificate of Completion. No account needed to read the modules.

• Level 2: Application (£295 per track)

  For practitioners applying CIP inside an organisation. Requires Level 1 completion.
