About the role

This role develops and coordinates online course evaluations and evaluation reports through IU's enterprise course evaluation system. It also supports the governance, administration, and effective use of faculty data systems.

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Assists campus leaders and schools in identifying their needs for an appropriate setup within the course evaluation system.
  • Works collaboratively with campus and school leaders to ensure the course evaluation process provides the data needed for faculty development, promotion, and tenure guidelines, course improvements, assessment, curriculum design, and innovations.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues with the various components of the enterprise system.
  • Trains department administrators in how to use the IU Course Questionnaire Data Manager (CQDM).
  • Communicates with the campus about course evaluation procedures and technical processes, and responds to inquiries and requests from staff, students, and faculty regarding course evaluations.
  • Develops standard official course evaluation data reports and handles ad-hoc requests for customizable reports.
  • Supports the governance, administration, and effective use of faculty data systems that inform faculty evaluation, benchmarking, productivity analyses, and strategic planning.
  • Accesses and uses internal faculty data systems, including HRMS, IUIE, eDossier, and Elements, to support analysis, reconciliation, and verification of faculty data in collaboration with the Director of Academic Personnel Policies and Services.
  • Supports campus initiatives related to faculty annual review, post tenure review, promotion and tenure, and workload by providing accurate and timely faculty data.

General Responsibilities

  • Provides support and guidance to faculty in both individual and group settings regarding instructional support, pedagogical practice, classroom management, and federal regulations like the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Title IX.
  • Determines additional support needs through consultation and designs resources to meet educational support needs.
  • Participates in educational resources initiatives in coordination with faculty and staff to improve student academic outcomes and improve classroom experience.
  • Trains teaching assistants, associate instructors, and graders in grading methods, responding appropriately to student concerns, and resolving complex issues.
  • Plans seminars, workshops, and other events for faculty, associate instructors, and students, as requested and appropriate by faculty.
  • Advances programs from individual consultations/workshops to larger-scale transformative events/projects when appropriate.
  • May oversee student testing administration and consult regularly with students regarding coordination of educational resources.
  • May serve as an informational resource and/or delegate tasks to administrative staff.

Education and Experience

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Preferred: Master's degree.
  • Required: 2 years in related field.
  • PREFERRED: 5 years in institutional effectiveness, survey research, institutional research and assessment role in developing and maintaining data reporting systems.

Preferred

  • Experience with inferential and descriptive statistical analyses using and statistical analyses packages (SPSS, SAS, Stata, or an equivalent statistical analysis software package) and spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel).
  • Experience with course evaluation and survey research software such as BLUE Explorance and Qualtrics.
  • Experience with data visualization platforms such as Tableau.
  • Experience with data extraction from enterprise information systems and data warehouses.
  • Experience with collaborating with other data providers on campus and within the university and overseeing campus data reporting with respect to IU system requirements and external entities, including the Department of Education, national organizations and accrediting agencies.
  • Knowledge of workflow processes/techniques for new or revised electronic computer applications; designing methods of processing data; technical report writing.
  • Strong interpersonal/human relations skills.
