Provides chauffeur services for hospital including transportation of employees, patients, lab reports, specimens, medical records, mail supplies, packages, etc. as directed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a courier, chauffeur, or similar position.
Responsibilities
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety standards.
- Transports various items to and from various locations and vendors.
- Chauffeurs patients and employees between several locations.
- Maintains storage requirements for biological specimens and other items handled during transport.
- Provides and/or arranges for appropriate maintenance of department vehicles and keeps them clean.
- Prepares and maintains accurate transportation logs, vehicle fuel consumption logs, and other data as required.
- Ability to maintain clear and accurate records, logs, and reports.
- Ability to effectively respond to emergencies in and around vehicle.
- Ability to work varied hours dependent on the needs of the patient or hospital.
- Maintains vehicle maintenance checklist, cleans interior of vehicle daily; cleans exterior of vehicle as needed, fuels vehicle.
Skills
- Respond to changes in volume on a daily basis.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures.
- Must possess effective reading and comprehensive skills.
- Must possess excellent all-weather driving skills.
- Must find locations based on address using GPS.
- Ability to locate off-site locations and complete off-site assignments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk short distances for eight or more hours.
- Frequent bending, stooping, or stretching.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and push 80 pounds.
- Normal vision and hearing range.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions.
- Ability to withstand rapid pace of events.
Working Environment
- Hospital vehicle, supply stockroom, loading dock, and medical offices.
- Exposure to chemicals, infectious waste, heat, cold, loud noise, dust, fumes, and odors.
