Description
Position Purpose: Responsible for the delivery of laboratory specimens, mail and supplies between affiliated MercyOne facilities and laboratory customers.
What You Will Do
- Transports laboratory specimens, mail and other materials and/or supplies utilizing excellent customer service skills.
- Follows established procedures and policies including infection control and bloodborne pathogens.
- Handles chemicals according to established safety protocols.
- Mets defined workload productivity standards.
- Supports and utilizes LEAN principles.
- Utilizes courier logistical software and devices to track packages and document route.
- Ensures temperature dependent materials are transported at their required storage temperature.
- Maintains cleanliness of vehicles and courier bags.
- Attends and participates in department huddles.
- Follows established policies and procedures to accurately track packages and obtain optimal transport time.
- Participates in teaching peers.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school degree or GED, required.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Two years’ experience as a courier, preferred.
- Working knowledge of materials management preferred.
- Valid Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, must meet MercyOne’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire.
