Courier | Full Time Days | Unity Hospital

Courier position in Food and Nutrition Services at Unity Hospital, Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14626. Full‑time (37.5 hours/week), weekdays 7:15 am–3:15 pm with alternating weekends.

Responsibilities

• Maintains work areas in a safe, sanitary and orderly manner, demonstrating proper equipment use and sanitation techniques.
• Obeys all applicable laws and regulations dealing with operation of vehicle and DOT regulations.
• Reports all incidents, damage, accidents immediately to manager or supervisor.
• Material Management: Timely deliveries of pharmacy supplies, bank bags, mail, med‑surge supplies, hospital equipment and special non‑stock orders.
• Food and Nutrition: Assist in inventory control by maintaining organization and sanitation of coolers, freezers, and dry storage and by identifying shortages.
• Food and Nutrition: Assembles and retrieves meals as required while maintaining food customer relations.
• Responsible for accurately filling and delivering supplies to units as required.
• Food and Nutrition: Package bulk food supplies according to menu requirement and deliver to satellite facilities while utilizing proper food handling practices in a timely, organized manner.
• Responsible for receiving all deliveries and storing supplies using appropriate safety practices as well as proper rotation of all supplies (first in, first out).
• Responsible for safe operation of food service equipment and utilizing personal protective equipment according to MSDS sheets.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Food and Nutrition: Previous food service experience preferred.
• Ability to read and write English and communicate effectively.
• Must demonstrate the ability to be flexible.
• Ability to read and comprehend maps (“MapQuest”) and/or directions.
• Knowledge of all Monroe County roads.
• Should have a basic knowledge of major roads and landmarks in the Greater Rochester area.
• Food and Nutrition: Knowledge of food safety and sanitation preferred.

Licenses / Certifications

• Valid New York State Driver’s License (NYS DL).

Physical Requirements

These positions involve frequent driving across varied routes, with regular loading and unloading of materials and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. or more. Employees must safely enter and exit vehicles, push or pull carts, and navigate ramps, stairs, and uneven surfaces. Strong visual and auditory acuity are essential for safe vehicle operation and task performance. Emotional and cognitive requirements include sustained attention, managing time‑sensitive deliveries, and responding to schedule changes. Environmental exposures include inclement weather, roadway hazards, and loading dock conditions. For disease‑specific care programs refer to the program‑specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. Pay

Hourly range: $17.50 – $20.00. The posted pay range is a good‑faith representation of potential base pay for this position; it may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Individual hourly rates could vary based on position details, FTE, experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, locations, and contracts.

Schedule

Weekdays 7:15 am – 3:15 pm with alternating weekends; 37.5 hours per week.
