Responsibilities
- Initial Response: Conduct initial action plans on new intake calls.
- Case Review: Perform follow‑up visits and review existing cases.
- Safety Assessment: Investigate CPS reports to ensure child safety.
- Family Support: Coordinate services that help stabilize and strengthen families.
- Reunification Efforts: Monitor family progress to work toward reunification when possible.
- Permanency Planning: Support permanency options for children when reunification is not possible.
Work Schedule
Full‑time employment; 72.50 hours bi‑weekly. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 45‑minute lunch. Caseworkers share on‑call duties. Travel/overtime as needed. No telework option.
Requirements
- Minimum Experience: Two years as a County Social Services Aide 3.
- Education: Either (a) two years of college coursework including 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences; or (b) a bachelor’s degree supplemented by 12 such credits; or (c) an equivalent combination of experience and training with 12 credits and one year as a County Social Services Aide 3 or similar paraprofessional case‑management role. Applicants within two months of graduating with qualifying credits are considered eligible.
- Residency: PA residency requirement waived for this title.
- Driver’s License: Valid, not suspended.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Legal: Conditional offer requires drug screening, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance. Position is subject to the Child Protective Services Law.
