Counter Staff

About the role

Flour Bakery + Cafe is looking for exceptional counter staff/baristas for a part-time position. This role involves greeting and assisting guests, assembling pastry orders, preparing coffee and espresso drinks, performing cleaning tasks, taking catering orders, delivering food to tables, and potentially helping prepare sandwiches—all while delivering outstanding hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests with a smile and provide exceptional hospitality
• Assist guests through the ordering process and answer questions
• Assemble pastry orders and prepare coffee/espresso drinks
• Perform cleaning tasks and maintain a tidy workspace
• Take catering orders and deliver food to tables
• Potentially assist in preparing sandwiches
• Operate equipment such as cash registers, coffee/espresso machines, and grinders
• Recognize when and where help is needed and assist other departments as required

Requirements

• Scheduling availability for at least 3 shifts (20 hours) per week, including at least one weekend shift
• Ability to work on Sundays
• Minimum commitment of six months (no seasonal or temporary work)
• Enthusiastic, hard-working, and eager to learn
• Strong guest service skills and ability to work in a professional kitchen environment
• Self-motivated and thrives in a fun, fast-paced team environment
• Previous bakery/cafe, barista, or front-of-house restaurant experience is helpful but not mandatory

• Ability to operate cash registers, coffee/espresso machinery, and grinders

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods, walk, push, pull, reach, and lift
• Prepared to be on your feet all day in a physically active role
• Ability to operate manual espresso machines and other equipment

Work Environment

• Fast-paced, team-oriented environment with loud noises and machinery
• May involve tight spaces and fluctuating temperatures
• Exposure to various aromas, including potential airborne gluten

Pay

Starting base wage of $15 per hour, with an average total compensation of $20–$24 per hour (including $5–$9 per hour in pooled tips). The total pay range is $15–$19.32.
