About the role
Flour Bakery + Cafe is seeking exceptional counter staff/baristas for full and part-time positions.
Responsibilities
- Greeting and assisting guests
- Assembling pastry orders
- Preparing coffee and espresso drinks
- Performing cleaning tasks
- Taking catering orders
- Delivering food to tables
- Potentially helping prepare sandwiches
Qualifications
- Must be able to deliver consistently great hospitality
- Enthusiastic, hard-working, with strong guest service skills
- Eager to learn and work in a professional kitchen environment
- Self-motivated employees who thrive in a fun, positive, fast-paced team environment
- Opportunities for advancement
- Previous bakery/cafe counter staff, barista, other restaurant front of house, or prep cook experience helpful but not mandatory
- Ability to operate equipment such as a cash register, coffee and espresso machinery, grinders, etc.
- Maintain grooming and uniform standards
- Excellent sense of urgency and hospitality
- Recognize when and where help is needed
- Take feedback and direction
- Willingness to work in a team and help all other departments, as needed
Physical Requirements
- Be prepared to be on your feet all day
- Physically active role
- Stand for long periods, walk, push, pull, reach, and lift
- Operate equipment such as a manual espresso machine and cash register
Work Environment
- Loud noises, machinery, and tight spaces
- Variations in temperature
- Aromas from various sources
- Minimal risk of cross-contamination with gluten
Compensation
- Average starting compensation of $20-$24 per hour (base wage of $15 + $5-9 per hour in pooled tips)
- Starting pay rate for this position is $15, but the total pay range is $15-$19.32
