Counter Sales Person

About the role

This is a safety-sensitive position; the ability to work in a constant state of awareness and in a safe manner is imperative. Candidates offered employment must undergo a pre-employment drug test screening for substances including amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamines, opiates, oxycodone, and phencyclidines, following cutoff levels set by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The position is also subject to a background check for any convictions directly related to its duties and responsibilities; only job-related convictions will be considered and will not automatically disqualify the candidate.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to customers during the sales and purchase process.
• Respond to customer inquiries in a professional manner.
• Maintain awareness of all product knowledge information, including product catalogs and price sheets.
• Stay informed about product promotions and advertisements.
• Market all products sold and suggest replacement or alternative products when appropriate.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience in the electrical industry and/or knowledge of electrical products.
• Strong mathematical ability.
• Basic familiarity with the use of a personal computer and Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.
• Demonstrated time management and organizational skills, including the ability to plan and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Strong customer service orientation.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to utilize a computer keyboard, computer monitor, and telephone.
• Ability to bend, climb, push, and pull, including the ability to maneuver at heights and in tight or small places.
• Ability to routinely lift, carry, and otherwise transport work-related materials that frequently weigh up to 70 lbs. and may occasionally exceed 70 lbs.
