Counter Sales Person
About the role
The Counter Sales Person assists customers during the sales and purchase process, responds to inquiries professionally, and maintains awareness of product knowledge, promotions, and advertisements. This role markets all products and suggests alternatives when appropriate. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring constant awareness and safe work practices.
Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test screening for substances including amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamines, opiates, oxycodone, and phencyclidines, following U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and SAMHSA guidelines. A background check for job-related convictions will be conducted; such convictions will not automatically disqualify a candidate.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers during the sales and purchase process.
- Respond to customer inquiries in a professional manner.
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge, including catalogs and price sheets.
- Market products and suggest alternatives or replacements when appropriate.
- Work safely and maintain constant awareness in a safety-sensitive environment.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience in the electrical industry and/or knowledge of electrical products.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong mathematical ability.
- Basic familiarity with personal computers.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills, including managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Strong customer service orientation.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to use a computer keyboard, monitor, and telephone.
- Ability to bend, climb, push, and pull, including working at heights and in tight or small spaces.
- Ability to routinely lift, carry, and transport materials weighing up to 70 lbs, occasionally exceeding 70 lbs.
