About the role

The Counter Clerk I, Part-Time position at Blount County, TN involves accepting payments for renewals and handicap placards, processing title and registration applications, assisting customers with problems related to titling and registration, issuing marriage licenses, and handling various transactions for TWRA. The position also includes accepting large amounts of money with accuracy, examining paperwork for accuracy, and performing other assigned duties.

Responsibilities

  • Accepts payments for renewals and handicap placards
  • Processes title and registration applications by assigning correct plates and collecting appropriate fees
  • Assists customers with problem solving pertaining to titling and registration
  • Issues marriage licenses
  • Assists as needed with opening and processing mail
  • Processes large amounts of money with accuracy
  • Verifies money from previous days' work
  • Processes title work for dealers and assists in problem solving pertaining to titling and registration
  • Examines all paperwork for accuracy and proper documentation
  • Processes various transactions for TWRA
  • Performs other assigned duties

Requirements

  • Possess and maintain the laws pertaining to titling and registration of vehicles in the State of Tennessee
  • Skillful in the use of small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems; using computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes
  • Cooperate with fellow employees as team members

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Six (6) months of experience:
  • Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience
  • Valid driver’s license

Physical Demands

  • Frequent sitting, reaching, manipulating objects, tools, and/or controls
  • Regularly moves materials weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Manual dexterity and coordination required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment, such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines
  • Hearing, mental acuity, speaking, and visual acuity required
