About the Role

This is a one-year, full-time temporary position, with the possibility of filling more than one position from this pool.
Fresno City College is a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), Black-Serving Institution (BSI), and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI). The college enrolled over 44,000 students in the 2025-2026 academic year, with 67% identifying as Latinx, 11% as Asian/Pacific Islander, 4% as Black/African American, 14% as White, 1% as American Indian/Alaska Native, and 2% as multiracial.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and provide job/career fair support, campus tours, educational planning, and conference/workshop presentations to inform students and families about CTE program options, courses, certificates, and degrees.
- Provide referrals and connections to Pathway Teams such as DSP&S, Outreach, General Counselors, and Financial Aid representatives.
- Facilitate career exploration and development activities through a systematic framework to aid students in making informed education and career plans.
- Provide professional development for teachers, faculty, administrators, counselors, and paraprofessionals.
- Support the integration of academic skills into CTE programs to help students meet state academic standards and achieve academic skills at the postsecondary level.
- Plan and implement elements that support CTE programs and increase student achievement of local performance standards.
- Develop sustainable relationships among education, business, industry, and community stakeholders to align programs with in-demand skills.
- Expand opportunities for CTE concentrators in accelerated learning programs, including dual/concurrent enrollment, early college high schools, and articulation agreements.
- Provide work-based learning opportunities, including simulated work environments and industry-recognized certification examinations.
- Coordinate with education and workforce development programs, including career pathways and sector partnerships under WIOA and IDEA.
- Expand opportunities for students in distance and blended-learning CTE programs, as well as competency-based education.
- Improve career guidance and academic counseling to assist students in making informed decisions, including academic and financial aid counseling.
- Support the integration of employability skills into CTE programs, including family and consumer sciences.
- Increase access, engagement, and success for students underrepresented in fields such as accounting, business, technology, computer information technology, decision science, business administration, marketing, paralegal, and real estate.
- Provide CTE for adults or out-of-school youth to complete secondary education or upgrade technical skills.
- Support career and technical student organizations, including preparation for technical skills competitions.
- Make instructional content widely available, including the use of open educational resources.
- Partner with qualified intermediaries to improve training, public-private partnerships, and scalability of high-quality CTE delivery.
- Reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket expenses for special populations, including fees, transportation, childcare, or mobility challenges.
- Serve on and attend department, college, and district committees as needed.
- Participate in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning.
- Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to equity-minded practice.
- Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family, and child counseling.
- Valid California Community College Credential; or equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
- Note: A bachelor’s degree in one of the listed fields and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.
- Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students, and understanding historical patterns of exclusion in higher education.
- Willingness to examine and remediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices to support racially minoritized students.
- Related work and professional experience.
- Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, as well as students with disabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to use computers and other technologies for instruction and student support.
- Strong communication skills with students and staff.
- Knowledge of the community college system, its mission, and goals.
Schedule
178-181 duty days per year, contingent upon funding. Duty days will be prorated based on the start of the assignment.
Pay
Starting annual salary is $71,054 – $108,772 based on education and experience. An annual doctoral stipend of $2,419 is available.
