Counselor Internship - Supervision Available

Role Overview

Participate in the care of patients undergoing treatment for Opioid Use Disorder, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Observe patient progress through individual and group counseling sessions.
• Engage in direct patient contact, including assessments and education on treatment and recovery.
• Identify and address clinical or case management needs.
• Assist with counseling sessions and report abuse, maltreatment, or grievances.
• Contribute to patient orientation and ensure understanding of policies and procedures.
• Maintain compliance with relevant regulations (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA) and organizational policies.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned to support program goals.

Qualifications & Skills

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university with a program offering internship course credit.
• Working towards a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, preferably with introductory coursework in substance abuse.
• Must pass a security background check and adhere to ethical, professional, and organizational standards.
• Meet with internship supervisor as required.
