About the role

American Addiction Centers strives to ensure that all of our clients receive the most comprehensive care to address the issues that may impede their recovery. The Counselor-intern will coordinate and provide individualized case management, group therapy, and bio-psychosocial assessment services. They will also assist in developing client resources, conducting vocational counseling, and creating discharge and continuing care plans. Additionally, the Counselor-intern will serve as a liaison between the referral source and other service providers, and will participate in weekly supervision to prepare for CADC/LCDP certification.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and provide individualized case management, group therapy, and bio-psychosocial assessment services
  • Develop client resources and conduct vocational counseling
  • Create discharge and continuing care plans
  • Act as a liaison with referral sources and other service providers
  • Participate in weekly supervision to prepare for CADC/LCDP certification

Requirements

  • Studying for Drug & Alcohol counseling certification from an accredited institution
  • 2 years’ experience working in a substance abuse environment strongly preferred

Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively with people and aid them in adjusting to their specific problems
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, family members, and other members of staff
  • Knowledge and experiences in running groups, meetings, and/or activities
  • Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings
  • Working knowledge of Google Products

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
