About the role
Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is seeking a full-time Mobile Crisis Counselor Case Manager to provide intensive short-term services to ensure stabilization for individuals in psychiatric crisis.
Responsibilities
- Screen children and adults for psychiatric hospitalization and facilitate hospitalization at the location of need.
- Provide crisis counseling and coordination to help stabilize current psychiatric crises.
- Maintain client records in the electronic health record in accordance with licensure and accreditation standards.
- Demonstrate professional, positive behavior and carry out responsibilities with integrity.
- Treat clients, families, other LSSI workforce members, and collaborative organizations or individuals with dignity, respect, honesty, and fairness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, or related field required.
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or related field preferred.
- Criminal background check and DCFS clearance required.
- Certification in IM CAT and/or IM CANS required.
- Completion of HFS trainings (de-escalation, Crisis Safety Planning, Mobile Crisis) required.
- Trained and proficient in the use of electronic health care record required.
- Demonstrated ability and experience working with clients in the community.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent organization, presentation, and PC/computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other related software.
- Valid driver’s license, in good standing for the state of residency required.
- Access to reliable transportation required.
- Valid IL statutory minimum liability insurance coverage, bodily injury, and property damage required.
Qualifications
- Experience working with clients in the community.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other related software.
Skills
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge of mental health crisis intervention techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
