Counselor (CADC) - Chemical Dependency

About the role

The counselor provides evaluation, counseling, and therapeutic services to individuals with substance use disorders in both outpatient and inpatient settings. They develop personalized treatment plans, coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams, and support patients and families throughout recovery. The role involves assessing social, psychological, emotional, and cultural factors, making treatment recommendations, and facilitating court-ordered programs. They educate patients and families about addiction, teach relapse prevention strategies, and connect them with community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide counseling and therapy, supporting positive outcomes.
  • Coordinate care and communicate with referral sources, families, and treatment teams.
  • Assist in patient education on addiction and recovery processes.
  • Participate in community education and professional development.
  • Maintain documentation and stay current with behavioral health practices and regulations.
  • Support post-treatment planning and monitor patient progress.

Qualifications

  • Certifications: CADC and BLS within 30 days of hire.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s in Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in clinical care and patient education.
  • Strong communication, advocacy, and coordination skills.
  • Commitment to professional growth and community engagement.
