About the Role
The Counseling & Academic Resource Center (ARC) Assistant provides essential support to the school's counseling team and ARC program by coordinating student scheduling and ensuring smooth delivery of academic accommodations. This role manages the daily flow of students needing counseling appointments, organizes and maintains the appointment calendar, and communicates scheduling updates to students, counselors, and teachers. The assistant also oversees exam proctoring for students with testing accommodations, including preparing test materials, maintaining a quiet and secure testing environment, tracking time, and ensuring that all completed assessments are returned to teachers promptly and confidentially. The assistant must be able to adjust scheduling, appointment flow, and testing coordination based on the changing daily structure. This position requires strong organization, clear communication, and the ability to work with sensitivity and discretion while supporting students' academic and social-emotional needs.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate Student Scheduling: Manage and maintain the counseling appointment calendar, scheduling students promptly and communicating updates to counselors, teachers, and students.
- Proctor Student Exams: Administer exams for students with testing accommodations, ensuring a quiet, secure, and distraction-free testing environment.
- Prepare and Manage Testing Materials: Organize, distribute, collect, and securely return all testing materials while maintaining confidentiality and accurate timekeeping.
- Maintain Student Records: Track appointments, testing sessions, and student accommodations with accuracy, discretion, and adherence to privacy requirements.
- Support Daily ARC Operations: Assist with the smooth functioning of the Academic Resource Center by monitoring student flow, responding to questions, and supporting counselors with administrative tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A college degree is preferred but not required.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and a commitment to helping conduct the mission of AMHS.
- Basic computer skills/proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Preference will be given to candidates with successful experience working in school or office settings.
Pay
$25/hr. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
