Our Team
- The intellectual property team of Koch’s Legal and Compliance Capability supports the Koch companies with innovative IP services to produce advantaged business outcomes consistent with our principle-based approach and economic risk philosophy.
- We demonstrate an interest in understanding each of the Koch businesses and the markets in which they operate, developing strong relationships at all levels of the organization to deliver sophisticated, risk-adjusted, practical IP support in line with commercial objectives.
- We continuously experiment with innovative process improvements, data-driven insights, and artificial intelligence adoption to transform our team into the IP team of the future.
What You Will Do
- Work on a broad range of trademark, trade dress, and copyright matters, including enforcement, litigation, disputes, transactions, clearance, licensing, settlements, and provide guidance to the trademark paralegal team on domestic and international prosecution.
- Coach and mentor the trademark paralegal team and deliver thought leadership to IP Capability management.
- Provide strategic counseling to various Koch companies on global trademark and domain name portfolios, and, in collaboration with the trademark paralegals, efficiently manage domestic and foreign outside counsel.
- Evaluate and handle copyright questions related to on-line content and social media, identifying and advising on issues related to fair use, rights of privacy and rights of publicity, and use of third-party and consumer-generated content.
- Negotiate and draft various IP agreements, including trademark and copyright licenses and talent releases.
- Perform IP due diligence and drafting and negotiate IP-related terms for M&A transactions as part of the deal team.
- Advance the IP team’s transformation through the execution of initiatives that optimize processes and advance the adoption of AI.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and State bar admission in good standing
- 5+ years of previous experience in trademarks, copyrights, and domain names

- Experience leading, supervising or mentoring teams and/or projects
- Experience with patents, trade secrets
- Experience with rights of privacy and rights of publicity
- Experience practicing in-house
- Experience with IP litigation
- Demonstrated experience developing and using AI tools for improving trademark prosecution/processes
For this role, we anticipate paying $180,000 - $240,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
