Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel and supporting the Chief Legal Officer, this role provides legal advice and support on regulatory and litigation matters for MRO Corporation and its subsidiaries.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance on laws, regulations, and regulatory developments applicable to the healthcare industry
- Analyze existing and newly enacted regulations as they relate to healthcare and privacy
- Review and draft regulatory summaries, distilling complex information into actionable guidance for the HIM industry
- Drive awareness of privacy and security policies and regulations, including developing company-wide training
- Manage litigation matters, including coordinating with outside counsel, tracking case strategy, and supporting discovery and document preservation obligations
- Assess and prioritize incoming disputes, research and apply governing law, and determine the proper course of action to resolve
- Draft legal documents including memoranda, position papers, demand letters, and responsive summaries to third parties
- Assist in a variety of other legal issues and projects to support the legal department
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor Degree (JD) from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law by the bar of at least one state
- 3+ years of experience in a multi-client law firm, health insurer, hospital, or similar organization
- Strong knowledge of healthcare law; litigation experience required
- Experience with HIPAA, health information management, or privacy law preferred
- Strong interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact with all levels of management
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team to prioritize responsibilities

Pay
Individual pay may be influenced by factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range.
Salary Range: USD $121,000.00 – USD $163,000.00 per year
