Counsel - Litigation, Insurance Defense

Insurance Defense Attorney We are seeking a skilled and motivated Insurance Defense Attorney to join a growing legal team. This position offers the opportunity to represent insurance carriers, insureds, and corporate clients in a wide range of civil litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to independently manage cases from inception through resolution. Key ResponsibilitiesHandle all phases of insurance defense litigation, including case evaluation, investigation, discovery, motion practice, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.Defend insured clients and insurance carriers in matters involving general liability, premises liability, personal injury, property damage, construction defect, professional liability, transportation, and other complex claims.Develop case strategy and provide legal analysis regarding liability, exposure, and damages.Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other litigation-related documents.Conduct and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives.Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and court appearances.Communicate regularly with clients, insurance adjusters, claims professionals, and opposing counsel regarding case developments and litigation strategy.Evaluate settlement opportunities and negotiate favorable resolutions when appropriate.Manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining exceptional client service and adherence to deadlines.Collaborate with colleagues on complex litigation matters and trial preparation. QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Active license and good standing with the state bar.7+ years of insurance defense, civil litigation, or related litigation experience.Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.Experience handling depositions, motion practice, and court appearances.Excellent organizational and case management abilities.Ability to work independently while also collaborating within a team environment.Trial experience is a plus. Preferred ExperienceRepresentation of insurance carriers and self-insured entities.Experience with bodily injury, casualty, professional liability, transportation, construction defect, products liability, or commercial litigation matters.Familiarity with insurance coverage issues and claims handling practices.Experience using litigation management and e-discovery platforms.
