About the role
FabFitFun is seeking a Counsel to work closely with our General Counsel in managing the legal affairs of a dynamic e-commerce and consumer product company. This role is based out of our HQ in Beverly Hills, CA and is not eligible for remote. We are presently operating from a hybrid schedule of 4 days a week in-office (Monday – Thursday).
Responsibilities
- Handle and advise business units on a significant volume of commercial agreements, including merchandise purchasing, licensing agreements, social media marketing, warehouse and fulfillment operations, and SaaS, AI and other technology agreements.
- Negotiate the legal terms of some of the company’s most important deals across all areas of the business.
- Assist in creating and rolling out policies and procedures relating to contract and risk management, and conduct training on these topics.
- Advises the Marketing and Creative teams on advertising and promotional content to ensure compliance with FTC guidelines, state consumer protection laws, and platform-specific requirements.
- Review and provide guidance on sweepstakes, contests, loyalty programs, subscription terms, and other consumer-facing initiatives.
- Monitor developments in consumer protection law and proactively advise on emerging compliance obligations, including those arising from the use of AI in marketing and customer interactions.
- Serve as a key legal resource on privacy and data security matters, including compliance with CCPA/CPRA and other applicable U.S. and international privacy regulations.
- Partner with the Technology and Product teams to review data practices, vendor data processing agreements, and privacy-related product features - including those involving AI-driven personalization.
- Support the development and maintenance of privacy policies, internal data governance frameworks, and data incident response protocols.
- Partner with the Product and Technology teams to provide legal guidance on new product features, platform updates, and consumer-facing rollouts from concept through launch.
- Identify and advise on legal risks associated with new product initiatives, including intellectual property, consumer protection, privacy, and regulatory considerations.
- Help develop scalable legal review processes to support the pace of product development and innovation, leveraging AI tools where appropriate to increase the legal team’s own throughput.
- Stay current on the fast-evolving legal and regulatory landscape around artificial intelligence, including model liability, IP ownership of AI-generated outputs, and emerging federal and state AI legislation.
- Manage and oversee outside counsel on litigation, regulatory inquiries, and pre-litigation disputes.
- Evaluate legal exposure and develop strategies to resolve disputes efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Coordinate internal investigations and work cross-functionally to gather facts and assess risk.
- General Counsel Support: Serve as a trusted partner to the General Counsel, helping to prioritize and manage the legal department’s workload across the organization.
- Advises business units on new initiatives and strategic partnerships.
Qualifications
- J.D. from a top-tier law school (preferred)
- Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar (or eligibility for registered in-house counsel status)
- 5–7 years of relevant legal experience, either in-house or at a major law firm, with demonstrated breadth across commercial, compliance, and/or litigation matters
- Experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial transactions; experience with manufacturing, supply, and purchase agreements with domestic and international factories and vendors a plus
- Working knowledge of consumer protection, advertising compliance, and/or privacy law strongly preferred
- Experience managing outside litigation counsel and overseeing dispute resolution strategies
- Genuine curiosity about AI and a willingness to work at its forefront - you follow developments in AI law and policy, actively use AI tools to enhance your own work, and aren’t waiting for someone else to figure it out
- Smart, personable, pragmatic, and diligent

- Able to adapt to evolving business needs while knowing when and where not to compromise
- Bonus if you have:
- Hands-on experience using AI tools in a legal context — contract review, research, drafting, or workflow automation
- Experience in eCommerce, subscription, or DTC environments
- Familiarity with consumer-facing platforms, logistics providers, or supply chain vendors
- Any background in change management, process redesign, or legal operations
