Cost Manager

About the role
Provides cost management services including invoice validation, cost forecasting and reporting, change management, close-out administration, procurement management, earned value, and value engineering.
- Prepares and issues periodic cost reports to senior technical staff.
- Reviews the cash flow prepared by junior technical staff and issues it to senior technical staff.
- With minimal supervision, reviews all change orders in accordance with the client's approval process.
- Reviews all invoices for the project, ensures junior technical staff codes the invoices where applicable, and forwards them to the client's accounts payable department.
- With minimal supervision, provides procurement services for the client, including preparing RFPs and bid analysis for construction and engineering services.
- Overviews and reports to the client on contractor buyout of subcontract bid packages where applicable.
- Attends bi-weekly cost meetings to review procurement status and change order status with contractors and engineering teams.
- With minimal supervision, provides cost information on value engineering analysis.
- Carries out earned value analysis of the project on a periodic basis with minimal supervision.
- Reviews contractors' close-out administration and ensures they meet their contractual requirements.
- Performs other duties as deemed necessary by the Supervisor.
Work involves conventional practice but may include a variety of complex features. Most assignments are performed independently, with decisions made on technical problems and methods. Receives approval on proposed plans for projects and general direction as to results expected or on unusual problems.
Supervises, gives work direction to, and/or reviews the work of junior technical staff and others who assist in specific assignments. Interfaces internally with senior technical staff and technical managers, and externally with clients.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related field, plus four years of relevant experience.
- Highly articulate, with a clear and analytical approach to problem-solving and strong decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Thorough understanding and ability to utilize Information Technology in the performance of work, including Internet, Intranet, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Project.
- Must be a member of RICS, AACE, or another relevant professional body.

Pay
Expected compensation range is between $95,000 - $125,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
