Cost/Inventory Accountant

CV Resources is seeking a Cost/Inventory Accountant for a well-established and growing manufacturing company based in Kingston, WA. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys digging into cost structures, optimizing inventory systems, and working closely with operations to drive financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor inventory valuation for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Maintain project-based cost accounting systems in SAP.
  • Perform routine inventory reconciliations and ensure accurate posting of inventory adjustments.
  • Track and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) and identify cost drivers and variances.
  • Partner with operations and procurement to support inventory accuracy and cost controls.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP and IFRS.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting reconciliations during month-end and year-end close.
  • Maintain general ledger accounts, including cost center and profit center structures.
  • Support fixed asset management, depreciation schedules, and cost allocations.
  • Ensure accounting practices align with regulatory standards and internal controls.
  • Assist with audits and provide required documentation to external auditors.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities with cost analysis and insights.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, especially around ERP and inventory systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on manufacturing or inventory-heavy environments.
  • Solid understanding of inventory cost accounting, accruals, and GAAP/IFRS compliance.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP is a plus).
  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus, but not required.

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear and effective communication skills; able to work cross-functionally with non-finance teams.
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to improve processes and take ownership of projects.
  • Familiarity with Washington State tax compliance (sales/use tax, payroll tax, etc.) is a bonus.
