Cost/ Inv Accounting Manager

We are looking for an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to lead core cost and inventory accounting activities for a manufacturing environment in Charlotte, North Carolina. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate product costing, strengthening inventory controls, and delivering financial analysis that supports operational and business decisions. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in standard costing, manufacturing finance, and cost analysis, along with the ability to partner effectively across accounting and operations. Responsibilities:• Direct cost and inventory accounting processes to maintain accurate financial reporting and reliable valuation of materials, work in process, and finished goods.• Oversee standard cost development and ongoing maintenance, including reviews of labor, material, and overhead assumptions to reflect operational performance.• Analyze production costs, inventory movements, and manufacturing variances, then communicate findings and recommendations to leadership.• Partner with plant and operations teams to improve inventory accuracy, strengthen controls, and support efficient month-end and year-end close activities.• Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting related to inventory, reserves, and cost of goods sold.• Monitor costing data and manufacturing trends to identify risks, savings opportunities, and areas for process improvement.• Support audits by providing documentation, explaining accounting treatment, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.• Contribute to finance-related process updates or system-related changes affecting cost and inventory accounting when need • 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, with significant exposure to inventory accounting in a manufacturing setting. • Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting principles, including standard costing and variance analysis. • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed cost analysis and translate financial data into actionable business insights. • Experience managing inventory valuation, reconciliations, and controls within a production environment. • Solid understanding of month-end close procedures and financial reporting tied to cost and inventory accounts. • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel for analysis, reporting, and account review. • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across finance, operations, and leadership teams.
