Cost Controller

About the role

As a Cost Controller, you will implement, administer, and maintain cost control systems and procedures to track project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts for projects of medium complexity and value.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and review of cost estimates.
• Provide cost information to support decision-making and alternative selection.
• Evaluate and analyze fee proposals/bids and provide recommendations for decision-making.
• Provide forecasts and cash flow analysis.
• Maintain and manage the cost report, providing regular updates on the financial position.
• Assist in the development, validation, and maintenance of the project schedule.
• Develop reporting tracking tools and generate cost reports, including earned value evaluation.
• Build intricate spreadsheets for fast and accurate data manipulation of large datasets.
• Extract, transform, and reconcile data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and a clean audit trail.
• Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.
• Operate Project Controls software by developing WBS, uploading financial data from SAP, and updating forecasts based on inputs from project stakeholders.
• Produce monthly cost report packages for multiple projects.
• Develop and manage an effective Work Breakdown Structure that meets project needs while adhering to client standards.
• Review contractor work progress submissions and invoices for consistency with approved forecasts and budgets.
• Use existing Client SAP reports to gather data for cost reporting (actuals and commitments).
• Manage and maintain Project Change Logs and provide reporting.
• Update the project cash flow in the Client portfolio management system.
• Review and participate with the design services team and construction manager in developing cost estimates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in a cost management role within the construction industry.
• Experience supporting cost management on medium or large-sized construction projects.
• Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
• Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience working on large-scale Life Sciences projects or similar is preferred but not required.
• Experience with project controls tools (such as Contruent/Prism or Ecosys) or PMIS is highly desirable.
• Relevant industry certification is preferred.

Project/Program Specifics

• Project/program size in dollar value: Ranging from $100k to $50M+.
• On-site presence may vary depending on client needs.

Pay

The minimum salary for this position is $120,000 annually, and the maximum is $140,000. Compensation will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
