Cost Accounting Consultant

Hybrid role in Plano, TX – contract through November.

About the role

Our client is a diversified manufacturing organization strengthening its cost accounting function while navigating an ERP implementation. This position offers strong visibility across the organization and the opportunity to help build and improve costing processes that directly impact business performance.

The Senior Cost Accountant will support month-end close activities, inventory accounting, cost reporting, variance analysis, and manufacturing cost controls. This individual will partner closely with accounting, operations, production, inventory, purchasing, and sales teams to ensure accurate product costing and provide insights that drive business decisions. The role is not purely transactional; the hiring manager seeks someone curious about manufacturing operations, who understands how products move through the production process, and can identify opportunities to improve costing accuracy and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end close activities
• Perform inventory accounting and reconcile cost flows
• Prepare cost reports and conduct variance analysis
• Collaborate with operations, production, inventory, purchasing, and sales teams to ensure accurate product costing
• Provide insights that drive business decisions and operational improvements

Requirements

• Manufacturing accounting and cost accounting experience
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Understanding of inventory accounting and cost flows
• ERP experience within a manufacturing environment
• Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and production teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Self-starter who takes initiative and can work independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, or process changes
• Standard costing, BOMs, and product costing experience
• CapEx, fixed assets, and depreciation experience
• Process improvement and automation experience
