Cost Accountant

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, and overhead.
• Maintain standard cost systems and update as necessary.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports and variance analyses.
• Monitor inventory transactions and assist with periodic physical inventory counts.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes with detailed cost data.
• Work with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, purchasing, production, sales) to improve cost control measures and provide analytical support.
• Develop and maintain financial models to support cost projections, profitability analysis, and scenario planning.
• Auxiliary internal and external audits related to inventory and costing.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Limited domestic travel.

• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, GAAP, and standard costing systems
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel
• Analytical and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments
• High integrity, organization, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3–5 years of cost accounting or financial analysis experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, standard costing, inventory accounting and variance analysis
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (Business Central) and advanced Excel skills
• Experience with inventory management, bills of materials, and production cost tracking
• Familiarity with GAAP and internal control practices
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data, prepare reports, and present findings to management
